Building + Art: Salzburg 1999-2011
Description
Art in buildings and art in public space are sensitive issues, since the works of art are not presented in the exhibition space, but are accessible to everyone, attract the attention of passers-by, are the subject of discussion and sometimes polarize. In 1981, the state of Salzburg was one of the first federal states to create a legal regulation for art in architecture, in 1991 the state government set up its own specialist committee and in 2008 a fund was set up to promote art in architecture and art in public space. The book presents 32 projects with a total of 66 works of art that were realized in the city and state of Salzburg over the past 12 years with state funds. Works by, among others, Ulrike Lienbacher, Brigitte Kowanz, Maurizio Nannucci, Karl Heinz Ströhle and Martin Strauß, Werner Reiterer, VALIE EXPORT, Julie Hayward, Peter Zolly, Otto Zitko, Eva Schlegel, Haubitz-Zoche, Elisabeth Czihak, Maria Hahnenkamp are represented here , Ingeborg Kumpfmüller and Thomas Baumann.
