Kokoschka as draftsman
Description
Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980) drew throughout his artistic career. The diverse expressive possibilities of drawing and watercolor have always fascinated him anew. In addition to his paintings, thousands of drawings were created, of which the collector Willy Hahn was convinced early on. Above all, he was attracted by the spontaneity that the medium of drawing enables and the creativeness of the moment that is expressed in it. Around 90 works from his collection form the basis of the publication, which uses outstanding examples to present Kokoschka's graphic work from the years in Vienna and Dresden to his late work in the 1970s. The spectrum includes well-known portraits of women and girls as well as self-portraits by the artist and landscape drawings.
