Theatre Through a Lens - Ruth Walz

€ 66,00

Description

As the legendary photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson put it, it's the "decisive moment" that counts. The theatre photographer Ruth Walz has trained her eye for over half a century to capture those fleeting moments on stage in such a way that we are still moved by them today. In this way, she gives us exciting after-images of irretrievably vanished productions. She allows the viewer to experience incomparable memories or new insights - everyone is taken on a journey into the fascination of theatre. After working as a photographer at the Berlin Schaubühne for about 15 years, she accompanied numerous theatre professionals on their journeys through European theatre and opera in the following years. Her precise eye and curiosity for the art of the stage remain unbroken to this day. On the occasion of the extensive exhibition of her photographs at the Museum für Fotografie in Berlin, this illustrated book is published with texts by Gerhard Stadelmaier, Niklas Maak and other authors as well as interviews with Robert Wilson and Peter Sellars.

RUTH WALZ (*1941); 1976-1990 photographer at the Schaubühne Berlin; since 1991 photographer at the Salzburg Festival; still working as a freelance theatre photographer; collaborations with Luc Bondy, Klaus Michael Grüber, Pierre Audi, Peter Sellars, Peter Stein and Robert Wilson, among others.
