Wiebke Siem (*1954 in Kiel), who was awarded the Goslar Kaiserring in 2014, is an important figure in contemporary art. With her work, she questions the boundaries between fashion, design and sculpture and conducts a knowledgeable and humorous rewriting of modern art history from a female perspective.

The richly illustrated publication presents sculptures and installations from the 1980s to the present day and deals with central themes specific to the work, such as the problematic strategies of appropriating non-European art in the modern age and the exclusion of female artists and their work in a male-dominated art world.
